On July 8/9, 1941, the De Gaulle BCRA carried out its first intelligence gathering mission in the Caen region. The Carpiquet aerodrome is one of the objectives. Two FAFL aviators, S / Lt Henri Labit and radio Jean-Louis Cartigny are parachuted near Carpiquet. Welcomed by the French, they are betrayed by another French. Henri Labit can escape, Jean-Louis Cartigny is captured. Terribly tortured and not having spoken, he was shot by the 43rd Artillery on February 4, 1942.
